‘Tis the Lenten Season!

Hello, my dear friends and wonderful readers! I was supposed to make this post at the beginning of the season, but with other duties beckoning my attention, I've been tardy. Nevertheless, better late than never, as they say. So, here's the post for the season of Lent...

It’s the season of Lent, and as a Christian country, Lent is considered an important religious observance. During this 40-day period (excluding Sundays) from Ash Wednesday to the Easter weekend, people may choose to give up something they enjoy in honour of the season. However, many may not fully understand the significance of this practice and its origins beyond tradition. Lent is meant to commemorate the 40 days Jesus Christ spent in the wilderness fasting in preparation for missionary work and to reflect on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as followers. Here are a few ways to properly honour the season:

1. Modify your diet - traditionally, abstaining from a particular type of food during the period has been the primary way of observing Lent.

2. Sacrifice an enjoyable activity - putting aside social media, playing video games, biking, or other leisure activities for the season can also be seen as an act of sacrifice.

3. Dedicate important days to fasting and prayer - Wednesdays and Fridays are recognized as significant days during Lent, and choosing to offer sacrifice through fasting and prayer sessions on those days is a way to honour the period.

4. Engage in acts of repentance - true repentance involves confessing our sins fully to God, acknowledging the harm they cause, seeking forgiveness and renewal, and forsaking those sins by refraining from committing them again.

And so, until next time my lovely friends and readers, let us be mindful of our actions, take time to reflect, be kind to one another, never forget the true meaning and purpose of the Lenten season and as always, big up yuhself! :D
